Gamma is an AI-assisted tool for creating presentations, visual documents, websites and other communication assets. It can turn a prompt, an outline or existing material into an editable first draft with text and layout. Its strongest use is helping someone express an argument visually when the ideas are ready but the presentation work is slowing them down. The author remains responsible for the argument, evidence and final delivery format.

In brief
  1. 01Core task. Transform an outline or source document into a structured visual communication asset.
  2. 02Likely users. Consultants, educators, founders and teams producing recurring briefings, proposals or explainers.
  3. 03What to prove. Faithful content, useful visual structure and a final export that works where the audience will open it.

01 / ProductWhat Gamma creates

Gamma's product overview1 covers presentations, documents, websites, social content, graphics and a generation API. A project can begin with existing material or a new prompt, then be revised through editing and AI assistance. The range of outputs matters because a presentation delivered live and a document read alone need different levels of explanation.

The underlying format also matters. Gamma organises content in cards, which can adapt to the material being presented. The import guide3 distinguishes plain import of text from AI-assisted transformation. Importing an existing deck is therefore a choice about content and structure, not an assurance that its original design will survive unchanged.

That makes Gamma useful for restructuring information into a readable sequence. A long project memo can become an executive briefing; an approved proposal can become a visual explanation. The author's contribution is deciding which claims deserve a card, what evidence belongs beside them and what the audience needs to understand before moving on.

A generated presentation is not research. The tool can supply plausible wording and imagery, but those outputs do not establish that a market estimate, customer example or quoted result is true. Start from verified material whenever the presentation is meant to support a consequential decision.

02 / AudienceWhere fast visual drafting is valuable

Consultants and internal strategy teams often have a substantial document but limited time to turn it into a clear briefing. Gamma is worth considering when the author knows the conclusion and needs help with structure and visual presentation. It is less useful when the hard work is still deciding what the evidence means.

Educators can use the same approach to build lesson outlines and explainers. The evaluation should ask whether the material supports understanding, rather than whether every card looks polished. A diagram that removes a misconception can be more valuable than a decorative image that merely repeats the heading.

Founders and sales teams may use Gamma for proposals, pitches or onboarding explanations. These are persuasive documents, so preserving qualifications is important. A visual summary should not turn a tentative projection into a reported result or an illustrative customer journey into a case study.

Teams bound to an exact PowerPoint template have a different constraint. If the final file must preserve a corporate slide master and precise object placement, evaluate that requirement before adopting another authoring environment. The time saved in drafting can disappear if every exported slide has to be rebuilt.

03 / WorkflowA briefing workflow from evidence to delivery

For an illustrative pilot, choose a short project recommendation with one main decision. Prepare a source document containing the recommendation, supporting evidence, alternatives, costs and unresolved questions. Label each number with its period and source. This provides a stable reference against which the generated version can be checked.

Write an outline before selecting a theme. A useful sequence might establish the problem, show the evidence, compare the options and explain the proposed next step. Give each card one job. If a section cannot be expressed clearly in the outline, adding a visual layout is unlikely to resolve the underlying reasoning.

Choose the import route deliberately. Gamma's guide describes plain import for preserving text and AI import for restyling or transforming it. Use the latter when restructuring is welcome, then compare the draft against the source. Check that qualifications, negative findings and open questions have not disappeared because they made the story less tidy.

Review the argument before polishing the design. Replace generic headings with specific conclusions. A heading such as the project needs another approval is more useful than one labelled next steps when the purpose is to obtain that approval. Add only the evidence needed to assess the claim; retain the supporting source for readers who need detail.

Choose visuals according to the information. Use a chart for a verified numerical comparison, a diagram for a sequence and a real screenshot when the audience needs to recognise an interface. Generated imagery can support tone or illustration, but should not pretend to document a real event, product state or customer outcome.

Test the final delivery path early. The export troubleshooting guide4 explains that exports reflect Present Mode. It also describes a Zoom to fit setting for fixed-format exports and font substitution when an exported PowerPoint file is opened in Google Slides. Inspect the file in the application the recipient will actually use.

Give the exported briefing to someone unfamiliar with the project. Ask them to identify the decision, evidence and next step without help from the author. Record what they misunderstand and the time required to repair the draft and export. This is a suggested evaluation, not a report of our own hands-on results or a claim that Gamma improves every presentation.

04 / PricingPricing, seats and AI credits

The live pricing page2 was checked on 15 September 2026. The browser displayed euro prices for the region used in this review. The table preserves that currency; it is not a conversion or a universal US-dollar quote. Annual rates are monthly equivalents paid as an annual subscription.

Plan or costPublished basisBuying implication
Free€0; 400 signup creditsAn initial evaluation; the free credit allowance does not refresh monthly.
Plus€10/seat monthly or €8/month annually (€96/year)1,000 monthly credits; removes Gamma branding.
Pro€24/seat monthly or €18/month annually (€216/year)4,000 monthly credits; API, more branding and sharing features.
Ultra€86/seat monthly or €77.33/month annually (€928/year)20,000 monthly credits for heavier generation workloads.
Business€35/seat/month, €420 billed annuallyOrganisation workspace and team controls; Enterprise is separately quoted.

EUR prices observed on Gamma pricing2, 15 September 2026. Monthly and annual billing are separate commitments.

Gamma's subscription guide5 explains that AI creation and editing consume credits, with usage varying by action, model and complexity. Paid monthly allocations can roll over within a cap. Annual billing still issues credits monthly; it does not deliver the entire year's allowance at once.

Additional credits follow their own rules. The credit-purchase guide6 quotes US$6 per 1,500 purchased credits, a separately published dollar amount to confirm in the account's billing currency. It distinguishes individual balances from pooled Business credits and describes auto-recharge. Check that setting for a multi-user workspace because several people reaching a threshold can create several charges.

For a five-person Pro workspace at the observed annual rate, the seat cost is €1,080 per year before any applicable tax or additional usage. The useful cost comparison includes time spent checking claims, fixing exports and maintaining reusable themes. A low subscription price does not make an inefficient handoff inexpensive.

05 / DistinctionsWhat distinguishes Gamma and what to compare

Gamma's appeal is the connection between content structure and visual drafting. An author can work from an outline, revise the sequence and produce several communication formats without treating each as a completely separate design project. That is especially useful when the information changes regularly but the explanation follows a repeatable pattern.

PowerPoint or Google Slides remain meaningful alternatives when the team depends on their editing conventions, templates and review process. Gamma's import documentation explicitly says that PowerPoint master layouts, custom backgrounds and precise styling are not preserved. If those are contractual delivery requirements, the final authoring environment may matter more than the speed of initial generation.

Use Notion as a comparison when the intended output is a maintained team document with ongoing discussion and project context. A visually structured briefing and a working knowledge base serve different reading patterns. Choose based on whether colleagues need to consume a recommendation or continuously maintain the underlying work.

For marketing teams, Jasper addresses an earlier part of the process: developing campaign content with shared brand context. It may be relevant if the bottleneck is the message and its variations, while Gamma is being considered for the presentation of that message. Avoid buying a layout tool to solve an unresolved positioning problem.

06 / QuestionsQuestions about fidelity, control and reuse

Will the source wording survive the workflow? Test one qualification and one difficult table through import, AI revision and export. A presentation can become less accurate as it becomes more concise. Keep an approved source document so the reviewer can distinguish an intentional editorial change from a lost detail.

What does the recipient receive? A hosted link, an editable presentation and a PDF are different deliverables. The reviewer should check the actual output, including charts, text size, links and page breaks. Presentation software compatibility should be demonstrated with the required file, not assumed from an export button.

How will the account handle confidential content? Gamma's data-control guide7 says individual Free, Plus, Pro and Ultra workspaces allow content to be used to improve AI features by default, with an opt-out setting. Team and Business workspaces are automatically excluded with a locked setting. Review the actual workspace type and controls before importing sensitive material.

Which administration features are required? The Business guide8 describes SSO and central billing, while directing needs such as SCIM, audit logs and invoiced billing toward Enterprise. A shared workspace is not automatically the same as a fully managed organisation deployment.

Can another colleague update the work next month? Keep a reusable theme, a short explanation of the intended audience and a reference to the source material. A good template should make future editing easier without encouraging people to copy outdated claims into the next proposal.

07 / DecisionChoose Gamma for a communication bottleneck you can name

Gamma is worth trying when the evidence and recommendation are ready, but creating a clear visual explanation is consuming too much time. Pilot one recurring briefing, check the final file with its real audience and measure the complete effort required to deliver it.

The strongest outcome is a presentation that helps someone understand and decide. More cards, more generated imagery or a more expensive model do not establish that result. Expand usage when the team can preserve factual accuracy, maintain its brand and deliver a file or page that works for the people receiving it.
