Haptik builds customer-facing AI agents alongside tools for the employees who handle the conversation when automation reaches its limit. Agent Studio supplies the construction layer, while Smart Agent Chat supplies a human workspace with AI assistance. The important question is whether these pieces carry a customer’s intent, account context and unfinished work through the whole service process. A smooth opening conversation is only the beginning of that evaluation.
- 01One customer process. Assess the customer agent and the receiving human team together.
- 02Tools require ownership. API access and CRM permissions determine which promises an agent can fulfill.
- 03Quote the complete scope. The public enterprise offer is sales-led; no numeric tariff was verified.
01 / ProductWhat is Haptik’s role in customer operations?
Haptik offers AI agents for service, sales and related customer tasks. Its Agent Builder Studio describes a process built around an objective, connected tools and instructions. The platform supports a choice of language models and different customer interfaces. These are building blocks for a service operation, not a substitute for deciding what that operation is allowed to do.
The company’s history page says Jio Platforms acquired a majority interest in early 2019. Haptik continues to offer its platform under its own brand. For a customer, the relevant distinction is between the platform service and the underlying models it uses. The proposed agreement should explain which party supports the assembled workflow when a third-party model supplies language generation.
An agent that answers questions from a document and an agent that modifies a customer record have different requirements. The former needs reliable content retrieval and a sensible refusal when the answer is missing. The latter also needs identity, permissions and a dependable action result. Haptik’s product range spans these concerns; a useful evaluation names the exact boundary between them.
02 / AudienceWhich teams are likely to benefit?
Haptik is relevant to customer organizations that need both automation and staffed service. A retailer with product questions and appointment requests, or a subscription service with account queries and escalations, can test a concrete workflow. The best starting point has recurring demand, an understandable policy and a destination system where completion is observable.
The human workspace makes the comparison broader than chatbot accuracy. Our Intercom Blueprint explores a helpdesk-centered approach, while Kore.ai offers another reference for enterprise agent orchestration. Compare how each proposed configuration routes a difficult case, what the employee sees and how the business measures resolution. A different inbox may be acceptable; losing customer context generally is not.
For a small team with an existing inbox and only a few public questions, an extensive agent deployment may create more administration than it saves. For a larger team, retaining its established service system may matter more than adopting a new one. Haptik lists both its own human workspace and connections to external systems, so decide which team experience is being proposed before evaluating feature lists.
03 / WorkflowHow could an agent hand a real task to a person?
Imagine a proposed home-services booking journey. A customer describes a broken appliance, gives a service area and asks for a visit. The agent can gather the problem and consult approved service information. It should not promise a repair price, available engineer or warranty outcome unless the relevant system returns that information. This is an illustrative evaluation workflow; we did not test it in a Haptik account.
Configure the first version around one service region and a small set of supported requests. Separate general troubleshooting from booking an appointment. A customer who reports a potentially dangerous fault needs an appropriate predefined escalation, while a routine scheduling request can continue through the booking process. The agent’s instruction set should make that branching understandable to the service owner.
Connected tools then supply the operational facts. The integration catalog lists CRM, commerce and service platforms, but a logo is only a discovery lead. Ask which objects can be read or written, which permissions are required and what happens when the external system is unavailable. A historical HubSpot setup guide shows an authorization process involving application credentials and scopes; its December 2022 instructions should be checked against the current integration before implementation.
When the agent cannot finish, Smart Agent Chat offers a human workspace with features including summaries, response assistance and conversation management. For the service example, the employee needs the appliance issue, location, checks already completed and the reason for escalation. A summary should preserve uncertainty: an unverified address must not become a confirmed address merely because the summary reads neatly.
Run the same case with a customer correcting an earlier detail. The receiving employee should be able to identify the latest value and inspect the conversation if necessary. Also test an unavailable booking slot, a duplicate request and a customer asking to stop. These cases reveal whether the system preserves an accurate operational record, rather than simply generating an agreeable response.
04 / PricingHow should a Haptik proposal be priced?
The current demonstration route is sales-led, and the reviewed enterprise pages do not expose a numeric plan tariff. A pricing URL redirected to the homepage during research. Treat the proposal as a defined bundle of capabilities and services. Do not import a price from a different Haptik product, a partner offer or an older small-business promotion into an enterprise estimate.
Ask the proposal to identify the customer agent, human workspace, channels, integrations and onboarding work explicitly. This is a request for scope clarity, not a claim that Haptik bills each component separately. Two quotes can both describe an AI agent while differing substantially in who implements the integration, who maintains it and which employees receive the supporting tools.
Use the booking journey to create a realistic volume model. Include customer conversations that require several exchanges, cases transferred to a person and sessions that end without a booking. If voice or a third-party messaging channel is included, confirm the relevant usage charges and contractual limits. The meaningful comparison is the total cost of the supported workflow, with the same operating assumptions across alternatives.
| Scope | Public commercial evidence | Decision to resolve |
|---|---|---|
| AI agent | Public product pages lead to a requested demonstration. | Specify the supported tasks and usage allowance. |
| Human handling | Smart Agent Chat is a documented product. | Confirm whether this workspace or an existing inbox is included. |
| Channels and integrations | Product pages list several connection options. | Confirm current support and any external usage charges. |
| Delivery and operation | The reviewed pages do not provide a fixed implementation package. | Name the builder, training scope and ongoing support owner. |
Enterprise commercial evidence from the Haptik demonstration page, consulted 19 October 2026; a public numeric tariff was not verified.
05 / DistinctionsWhat distinguishes the product combination?
The connection between an agent builder and a human workspace is the most useful distinction. Automation can collect information and attempt routine work, while staff handle judgment, exceptions and relationship-sensitive interactions. Smart Agent Chat’s advertised summaries and response suggestions address the employee’s side of this transition. Their value depends on whether they reduce work without erasing the evidence behind a case.
The platform’s model choice is also relevant, but it should be evaluated through the actual task. A model that writes polished answers may still mishandle a local address, a product variant or an ambiguous date. Compare candidate configurations on the same service examples and document the chosen behavior. The business should be able to change a policy without rediscovering every downstream consequence.
A useful organizational design assigns conversation content to the service team and tool permissions to the system owner. These people should jointly approve action boundaries. That arrangement helps avoid a common failure: conversational instructions becoming the only control over an operation that should have been constrained by the connected system itself.
06 / QuestionsWhat evidence should a buyer request?
First, request a live demonstration of the proposed handoff into the system your employees will actually use. Confirm who owns the conversation after transfer, how an employee can correct the record and whether the AI continues to act. The published feature pages establish product intent; they do not establish the exact behavior of a particular deployment.
Second, inspect the data path for the selected models and integrations. Identify which customer information each component receives and which fields can be omitted. A troubleshooting conversation may need an appliance model and service region before it needs an address. Minimizing unnecessary context makes the workflow easier to reason about as well as easier to maintain.
Third, agree a measure of completion outside the chat. For the example, inspect the final appointment, customer confirmation and unresolved cases. Include employees’ correction time in the assessment. We reviewed current product pages and the dated integration guide; we did not authenticate into Agent Studio, verify an integration’s current permissions or measure Haptik’s claimed performance.
07 / DecisionWhen should Haptik reach the shortlist?
Haptik deserves a focused evaluation when the desired outcome includes both a capable customer agent and an effective human fallback. Choose one task, one receiving team and a small set of connected records. A useful pilot should make it clear who is responsible whenever the conversation changes from providing information to taking action.
Customer tasks need a staffed fallback
Use a repeatable process with real system access and an identifiable receiving team.
Your helpdesk is already established
Assess the exact integration and employee experience alongside another enterprise agent platform.
The task is only public information
A smaller answer-only deployment may satisfy the need with less setup.
