01 / ProductThe agreement and the portfolio inform each other
Ivo’s current platform connects Review, Assistant and Intelligence around contract work, with Collaborate extending into deal orchestration. Review operates inside Word and Google Docs, Intelligence analyzes a contract collection, and Assistant helps perform legal tasks. The practical connection is between negotiating the next agreement and understanding what the organization has already signed. A useful evaluation should examine both directions rather than treating the repository as a passive attachment folder.
Review uses playbooks, negotiation history and deal context to propose redlines. The product page describes building playbooks from the organization’s agreements, citing their source positions and layering up to three playbooks in a review. That can be relevant when a global position needs a regional or document-specific overlay. It also means the quality of the approved playbook remains part of the system’s quality.
Intelligence describes contract relationships, composite agreements, natural-language columns and separate rooms for projects or business units. The goal is to connect amendments and other related documents while making portfolio questions easier to answer. That is a more demanding job than extracting a date from one file: the system must establish which documents belong together and which language governs the requested answer.
Assistant combines document questions, comparison, editable reports and legal research. Its public description includes source links and room-scoped queries. Those features provide a route for checking the work, but a link does not establish that an answer is complete or that a precedent applies to the current deal. The reviewer still needs to inspect the relationship between the question, the selected sources and the proposed conclusion.
Collaborate adds intake, issue routing, approvals, negotiation and signature coordination around the agreement. The page describes business users starting from approved templates and teams working through Salesforce, Word and Slack. Its early-access wording means a buyer should confirm the actual account route before depending on those workflows. The main evaluation below focuses on review and intelligence, with lifecycle automation scoped separately.
02 / AudienceA fit for a legal team with recurring negotiation positions
An in-house commercial team is a natural evaluator when it reviews similar agreement types repeatedly and needs consistent treatment of its preferred terms. The team may also want to know how far executed contracts have drifted from those standards. Ivo is most interesting where those jobs connect: understanding prior deviations helps inform the next negotiation, while a new negotiated exception becomes material for future portfolio analysis.
The product is less useful as a shortcut around deciding the organization’s own policy. A collection of signed agreements contains compromises, historical practices and perhaps transactions with different risk tolerances. The most common clause is not necessarily the clause the team wants to accept today. Before building a playbook from that collection, someone must identify the preferred position and the circumstances under which a fallback is permitted.
Luminance is relevant for a comparison spanning contract drafting, negotiation and analysis. Ironclad helps frame the broader lifecycle question, including intake, approvals and execution. Ivo’s FAQ describes Intelligence as distinct from a CLM, while the newer Collaborate offer addresses lifecycle orchestration. Evaluate those products separately: repository intelligence alone does not establish the workflow scope or account access needed to replace an existing contracting system.
03 / WorkflowA proposed review follows the position through to the signed record
Consider a proposed trial by a legal team that handles a recurring class of vendor agreements. Select authorized sample contracts, their amendments and the team’s current approved positions. Include straightforward examples and a few known exceptions. The purpose is to evaluate whether Ivo can prepare a useful review and make the supporting precedent easy to inspect; it is not to automate acceptance of legal terms.
Begin with a playbook whose owner can explain every consequential position. If using Playbook Builder, review the extracted positions against the source agreements before saving them. A negotiated concession should be labeled as a concession, not silently promoted to a standard. The reviewer should be able to answer why a fallback exists and which deal characteristics make it available.
Run Review inside the document editor using a fixed sample agreement. Compare the suggested edits with the team’s expected issues and with the complete contract. Check whether one proposed change makes a definition inconsistent elsewhere, whether acceptable language is needlessly rewritten and whether a missing issue is actually absent from the agreement or simply overlooked. Keep a record of false alarms as well as missed problems.
Next, ask Assistant to compare the reviewed agreement with a relevant prior deal. Its product description emphasizes differences in legal positions even when formatting and wording differ. For the trial, require the reviewer to distinguish a meaningful change in obligation from a cosmetic change in language. A useful summary should reduce the work needed to locate the difference without concealing the text that supports it.
Move to a portfolio question through Intelligence, using a restricted room containing the same contract family. For example, ask which reviewed agreements state a particular notice period and where it appears. Manually verify that amendments were linked correctly and that an agreement with missing supporting material is not reported with the same confidence as a complete record. Treat a blank answer and a contradictory answer as separate review categories.
Finally, add a new authorized amendment and repeat the affected question. This tests whether the working answer reflects the updated agreement while preserving a traceable history. Measure preparation, correction and handoff effort separately. The result should tell the team where the product helps: finding the right precedent, assembling a first redline, identifying a portfolio exception or creating a report that another lawyer can reproduce.
04 / PricingCommercial access requires a defined platform proposal
| Route | Commercial basis | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Contract review | Sales-led demo and proposal | Confirm included editors, users and playbook configuration. |
| Portfolio intelligence | Repository analysis described publicly | Define the agreement collection, connectors and room boundaries. |
| Assistant and research | Cross-document work and legal sources | Confirm account access, supported jurisdictions and source entitlements. |
| Collaborate | Lifecycle orchestration with mixed public access wording | Confirm availability and inclusion for the proposed account. |
| Implementation support | Solutions-attorney support is described | Agree on playbook preparation and ongoing maintenance responsibilities. |
Ivo’s demo route, Review and Intelligence, consulted 15 October 2026. No public numerical list tariff was established from these sources.
Bring the sample workflow to the sales discussion. A useful proposal identifies which products are included, who can use them and what onboarding is needed for the selected repositories. Ask how the agreement handles expansion to another legal team or contract collection. These are questions that clarify the scope of a quote; the public material does not establish a standard per-seat, per-document or per-review charge.
Compare the proposed cost with accepted work. A fast first pass may still require extensive corrections if the historical contracts were poorly selected or the playbook does not match the deal. Conversely, a modest reduction in drafting time can be worthwhile if it makes review more consistent across a team. Use the pilot’s actual correction effort and task frequency rather than importing a customer testimonial as the organization’s expected return.
The FAQ describes support for creating playbooks and points to security documentation through the trust center. Obtain the relevant documents and account conditions during procurement. A product page listing certifications is useful discovery information, but it does not tell the team which repository permissions, retention rules or integration settings will apply to its deployment.
05 / DistinctionsContract context is more useful than isolated clause matching
Ivo’s approach is interesting because it connects a proposed edit with the team’s own negotiation history and deal context. A clause can be acceptable in one agreement and inappropriate in another because the business relationship, document role or surrounding terms differ. The evaluation should therefore include near-matching contracts with different approved outcomes. That tests whether contextual distinctions survive, rather than rewarding a system for spotting a familiar phrase.
Intelligence adds another useful layer: contracts are treated as related records that change over time. If the system reliably connects amendments and base agreements, a portfolio query can answer a business question closer to the operative text. The reader should still test representative exceptions, including amendments that change only one provision and attachments that are referenced but missing. An organized repository is only as complete as the evidence supplied.
Ivo’s about page identifies an established enterprise contract focus and names customers such as Atlassian and Canva. That supports its relevance to an in-house legal software shortlist without proving suitability for every team. The stronger reason to evaluate remains the product mechanism: whether a specific team can trace a recommendation from its approved positions through the reviewed agreement and into the portfolio record.
06 / QuestionsBenchmark claims need a task-specific interpretation
Ivo publishes accuracy and time-saving claims across its product pages. This blueprint does not convert those claims into an overall quality score. Extraction benchmarks, redline comparisons and customer-reported time savings measure different things. A team should ask what was tested, how disagreements were judged and whether its agreement types resemble the sample before applying any reported result to its own expected performance.
Legal research also needs a defined scope. Assistant lists sources such as securities filings, statutes and regulations, including materials relevant to the United States and UK/EU work. That does not establish complete coverage of every jurisdiction or every question. In the trial, name the jurisdiction and the question’s required authority, then verify cited material and any unresolved gaps before using the output in professional work.
For Collaborate, resolve the public access wording before making it a launch dependency: the announcement says it is available, while the product page retains an early-access call to action. Also test room boundaries across integrations and shared outputs. An intended reviewer should be able to open the cited source, while an excluded user should not obtain the same contract through another route.
07 / DecisionEvaluate the path from position to evidence
Ivo is worth considering when contract review and portfolio intelligence should reinforce each other. Start with a known agreement family and approved positions, then inspect redlines, source references and amendment handling together. The decisive evidence is a repeatable review that the team can explain and maintain, not the speed of one attractive demonstration.
