Legora is a legal AI platform that connects document work, research and collaboration. Its current offer centers on an agentic operating system, with agents that prepare work, Lists that organize follow-through and Monitors that track regulatory developments. The practical test is whether a legal team can keep sources, professional judgment and responsibility connected as a matter moves forward.

In brief
  1. 01Core offer. Legal agents and connected tools for researching, reviewing and delivering professional work.
  2. 02Best fit. Law firms and in-house teams with recurring matters and defined review responsibilities.
  3. 03Commercial distinction. Agent Pro has consumption-based pricing; the standard Agent remains included for existing customers under the announced terms.

01 / ProductA legal workspace extends from analysis into execution

Legora’s aOS overview presents an integrated environment for legal information and work. This is the same company that previously operated as Leya, as confirmed in its rebrand announcement. The company should be evaluated as one platform, with the specific products and source entitlements that an account actually receives.

The Agent is described as planning a task, choosing tools, carrying out steps, reviewing its progress and delivering a result. Reusable Skills encode a firm’s preferred processes and standards. Agent self-review is a product behavior; it is not equivalent to a lawyer approving the result or accepting responsibility for the advice.

Lists provides a structured destination for tasks and facts. The product page describes generating a closing checklist from transaction documents, with references, suggested owners and dates, then updating statuses and retaining an activity trail. This is valuable because the work remaining after document analysis is often coordination: someone must obtain a signature, resolve a condition or verify a missing item.

Monitors adds a feed scoped to a regulatory perimeter, with routes to research changes, assess implications and assign follow-up. Treat coverage as a concrete configuration question. A product that monitors selected sources does not automatically establish that every relevant regulator, jurisdiction or document type is included.

02 / AudienceA fit for teams that need shared work rather than isolated answers

A transactional practice can evaluate Legora around closing conditions and document review. An in-house team can examine how research turns into an owned action list. A compliance group can test how a regulatory development moves from an alert to an assessed business response. Each use requires someone who can determine relevance, inspect the source and approve the proposed next step.

A solo user seeking a definitive answer to an unfamiliar legal question has a different need. Broad automation also has limited value if the underlying matter is missing key documents or has no clear owner. Legal work depends on the question’s jurisdiction, facts and procedural context; a tool’s ability to assemble a polished document does not supply those missing decisions.

Harvey is a close comparison for teams assessing specialized legal agents, source work and shared matters. Writer is relevant when an organization wants reusable drafting and knowledge workflows across departments, with legal work forming only part of the scope. Compare the workflow that consumes time today, including the handoff after drafting, rather than treating every legal AI interface as interchangeable.

03 / WorkflowA proposed closing checklist starts with the executed evidence

Consider a proposed pilot using an authorized sample transaction bundle with a known closing checklist. Ask Legora to draft the list of conditions and required documents, attaching source references and proposed owners. The pilot should use materials that the evaluating team is entitled to upload. It should not begin with instructions to close a transaction or communicate commitments autonomously.

First distinguish executed documents, drafts, amendments and schedules. Retain a source inventory that identifies the controlling version for the exercise. A condition quoted correctly from an obsolete draft can still produce a wrong task. Include one superseded clause and one missing schedule in the sample so the evaluation tests how uncertainty and version conflicts appear.

Then define the expected row. A useful row identifies the condition, its supporting clause, responsible role, due-date basis and current status. Some dates are explicit; others depend on events that have not happened. Ask the system to preserve that distinction. Converting “before completion” into a calendar date without an agreed completion date would make a tidy list less reliable.

The lawyer should compare the draft against the known checklist and open every consequential reference. Review omitted conditions as well as invented ones. A citation can establish where text appears but cannot settle whether another provision changes its application. Keep disagreements between reviewers visible until a responsible person resolves them, rather than allowing an agent to choose the most convenient interpretation.

Use the documented Lists workflow to assign approved items and update their status. Test a changed instruction, a replacement document and a reassigned owner. Observe whether the action history remains understandable and whether a completed task can be traced to its evidence. A list is operationally useful only if people can rely on its current state without reopening every chat.

Finally, produce a short status report that separates completed conditions, unresolved questions and blocked tasks. Have someone who did not create the list verify the report from the underlying rows. Measure omissions, reference quality, correction effort and coordination time. These measures reveal whether the tool improves delivery, while avoiding a misleading focus on how quickly it generates the first draft.

04 / PricingSeparate platform access from Agent Pro consumption

ScopePublished basisReader implication

Agent ProConsumption-based; usage dashboards and spending controlsRequest unit rates, allowances and threshold behavior.

Commercial model from Legora’s pricing announcement and demo route, consulted 22 September 2026. No numerical public rate was established.

Legora’s 23 June 2026 pricing announcement introduces consumption pricing for Agent Pro and usage visibility by organization, user or project. It says the standard Agent remains available to customers without an additional charge or changes to their existing contracts. The announcement publishes no numerical rate, so it does not support an invented price per lawyer or per matter.

For a closing-checklist pilot, ask for an example bill covering the actual workload: initial extraction, additional questions and reruns after amended documents. Establish the chargeable unit, included allowance and behavior at a spending threshold. A warning about approaching a limit and a hard stop at that limit have different consequences for both budgeting and completing a time-sensitive matter.

Matter-level attribution can help a firm understand which work consumes resources, but it does not itself determine whether that cost may be charged to a client. The commercial decision should use the firm’s own engagement arrangements and accepted-work measures. Keep vendor usage accounting separate from the professional decision about how a matter is staffed and billed.

05 / DistinctionsStructured follow-through is a meaningful part of the offer

Legora is especially interesting where document analysis and task management currently drift apart. Lists can keep a source reference beside an assigned action, while an activity trail records changes. The benefit to test is whether a colleague can understand the state of the matter from the maintained record. A generated checklist that immediately becomes another unmanaged attachment would lose much of that value.

Monitors addresses a related continuity problem: a legal team may research a topic carefully and then lose visibility when the underlying rules change. A scoped feed can provide a starting point for renewed analysis. The human task is to decide whether a development changes a client’s position or an internal process, and to record why an alert was acted on or dismissed.

The security page describes storage options, access controls and a commitment not to use customer data to train or fine-tune AI models. It also presents security and AI-governance certifications. Those statements help focus diligence, but they do not prove that a particular matter’s permissions, retention requirements and regional arrangements have already been configured correctly.

06 / QuestionsVerify source coverage and the boundary between draft and action

The most important account question is what is actually enabled. The public website describes an expanding suite, and a product announcement does not establish identical access for every customer. Confirm the available Agent tier, Lists, Monitors, research sources and integrations in the proposed agreement. Demonstrate the intended sequence using the account and permissions that the team would really operate.

The second question is how an agent distinguishes a proposed action from an authorized one. A system may prepare a task, draft correspondence or suggest a responsible person without having authority to make a commitment. In the pilot, define where professional approval occurs and verify that the team can identify which items are generated, checked, assigned and completed.

The third is whether a source can be revisited after handoff. A reference that only the original author can access is a weak foundation for collaborative review. Test access as another matter member, and test what happens after a document is replaced. This article reviewed public materials, not a live customer tenancy; source completeness, accuracy and contractual service conditions remain evaluation questions.

07 / DecisionChoose a matter whose handoffs are visible and repeatable

Legora is a strong candidate for evaluation when a team wants legal AI work connected to ongoing matter execution. Start with a small evidence set and a complete expected deliverable. Scale after the team can explain both the source trail and the Agent Pro consumption associated with accepted work.
