Noma Security is an enterprise security company focused on AI applications and agents. Its platform connects the inventory of what exists with rules about what those systems may do and evidence about what they actually attempt. The practical question is whether those controls reach the specific tool calls, identities and environments your agents use. A list of approved models cannot by itself govern an agent that can change business records.
- 01The offer Discovery and posture assessment, agent access control, runtime detection and response, and adversarial testing.
- 02The fit Security and platform teams managing agents across employee endpoints, SaaS platforms and cloud applications.
- 03The scope Current primary-source research and a proposed helpdesk pilot; no Noma deployment or attack simulation was performed.
01 / ProductThe platform follows an agent from inventory to runtime
The Noma platform organizes its offer around endpoint agents, cloud agents and agents built within SaaS platforms. That division is useful because the deployment owner and enforcement opportunity differ. A developer’s coding assistant, a centrally managed cloud service and a business team’s automation may all reach the same sensitive system through different paths.
Noma AI-SPM inventories AI assets and assesses their posture. The product describes mapping models, agents, MCP servers, tools and relationships, then finding issues such as exposed secrets or excessive privileges. The map is a starting point for deciding where intervention matters; discovering an asset does not establish that every action it takes is already blocked or inspected.
The remaining products address separate jobs. Agent Access Control defines permitted tools and actions. AI-DR examines runtime behavior and supports responses. AI Red Teaming tests weaknesses before or between releases. Treating these as distinct capabilities helps avoid purchasing an inventory project while expecting an inline prevention service.
02 / AudienceUseful when agents have access that security cannot explain
Noma fits organizations whose agents span several teams and environments, especially when ownership is unclear or an approved tool can perform both harmless and consequential operations. The security team needs to know which identity an agent represents, what it can reach and where a policy can intervene. The application owner supplies the business meaning of those operations.
A small application with one model call and no tools may have a narrower problem. It can still need content inspection, but the broader asset and action graph becomes more valuable as connections proliferate. Conversely, a large inventory alone is not enough: if the most sensitive action bypasses supported enforcement, visibility elsewhere cannot compensate for that gap.
The Palo Alto Networks blueprint provides context for a broader security platform approach. The HiddenLayer blueprint is a useful adjacent comparison for protecting AI systems. Compare the actual deployment path and evidence produced for the same application, rather than assuming similarly named AI security features have identical coverage.
03 / WorkflowA proposed helpdesk pilot makes authority observable
Consider a proposed employee helpdesk agent that reads device status and prepares an access request. It may inspect a user’s existing groups, but it must not grant administrator rights or disable an account. Use synthetic employees and a test identity system. The pilot should demonstrate the boundary between an allowed lookup and an unauthorized action before connecting production credentials.
Start by recording the agent owner, runtime, model access, tools and service identity. Reconcile Noma’s discovered inventory with the application team’s known architecture. An undiscovered connector is a meaningful finding, even if every discovered component looks healthy. Document whether missing visibility reflects an unsupported integration, insufficient permissions or a connection that was never configured.
Define policy around operations, not merely the tool’s name. A directory-management server may expose both read and write methods. The access-control documentation describes policies applied through supported gateways, hooks and APIs; the pilot must establish which mechanism covers this particular server. An assertion that the server is approved should not implicitly authorize all of its methods.
Run ordinary requests first, then requests that drift beyond the original task. For example, an employee asks for a group membership report and the agent proposes to modify the group to make the report look correct. The intended result is an allowed read followed by a blocked write, with enough identity and action context to explain the distinction. This is a proposed acceptance test, not a reported Noma result.
Use adversarial testing to exercise the application’s own instruction and tool boundaries. Keep testing inside the authorized sandbox and score the attempted action separately from the final response. An agent can say it refused while having already called a sensitive method. Noma describes connecting red-team findings with runtime policies; verify that the resulting rule addresses the observed operation without blocking valid reports.
Finally, test recovery and investigation. Ask who receives the finding, whether the application handles a denied action clearly and whether a permitted retry duplicates a previous operation. A successful pilot should leave an intelligible chain from user request to attempted tool action to enforcement result. That chain matters more than a dashboard showing an undifferentiated count of blocked prompts.
04 / PricingThe public route is a scoped enterprise evaluation
| Scope | Public buying route | Confirm in the evaluation |
|---|---|---|
| Discovery and posture | Request a demo | Supported environments and inventory permissions |
| Agent access and runtime defense | Sales-scoped deployment | Enforcement modes, integrations and retained evidence |
| Red teaming | Discuss application scope | Targets, test coverage and repeat-run terms |
Commercial model from Noma’s demo route and platform overview, consulted 17 October 2026. No numeric public tariff verified.
The demo request is the public commercial entry point. The reviewed platform and demo pages do not establish a numeric list tariff or a published billing unit. The table therefore describes the evaluation scope to confirm, rather than inventing a per-agent or per-token price from the product’s vocabulary.
For the helpdesk example, ask for a quote tied to the specific environments, enabled products and enforcement paths. Discovery-only scope, runtime protection and repeatable red teaming require different work from the buyer. Specify the expected traffic, agent count and retention needs as scoping information without assuming those are the vendor’s contractual meters.
Implementation cost also includes maintaining identity mappings and supported hooks as agents change. A proof that covers one test application may not include a business team’s SaaS agents or developer endpoints. Make expansion boundaries explicit so the initial evidence can be reused without silently treating a narrow deployment as organization-wide protection.
05 / DistinctionsContext can distinguish an allowed tool from an excessive action
Noma’s meaningful distinction is the connection between posture, identity and runtime context. A tool call can be technically permitted yet inconsistent with the user’s task. Its access-control and runtime pages explicitly describe that problem. For buyers, this creates a concrete evaluation target: the platform should explain why a particular operation was inappropriate in the context of an otherwise legitimate session.
The company overview positions Noma around enterprise AI security and governance. Its dedicated product family connects agent discovery, access controls and testing, giving security teams several intervention points across the AI lifecycle. A buyer should establish which components share findings and policy in the offered configuration. Public product descriptions cannot establish false-positive rates in your estate.
A shared inventory can also make remediation more specific. If the same overprivileged tool appears in several agents, the team can address the common permission rather than patch each prompt separately. The pilot should test whether findings lead to an actionable owner and change, because an accurate warning with no clear remediation path can remain unresolved indefinitely.
06 / QuestionsVerify enforcement coverage and the meaning of a safe result
Which actions are inspected before execution, and which are only reported afterward? Ask this separately for each integration. Runtime detection is not synonymous with prevention, and a post-event alert cannot reverse an external change. The acceptable mode depends on the operation: a harmless lookup and a destructive account update need different guarantees.
What happens when the control cannot reach its service or classify an action confidently? Request a demonstration of failure behavior, latency and the application’s error handling. Use permitted and prohibited operations with similar wording to expose overblocking. The goal is to preserve useful helpdesk work while keeping the critical permission boundary intact.
How much session content is retained for investigation, and who can inspect it? Tool arguments and responses may contain sensitive operational data. Decide which fields are needed to explain a finding, then confirm deployment, access and retention arrangements. This source review does not independently validate Noma’s security effectiveness, regulatory suitability or integration performance.
07 / DecisionChoose a pilot with one meaningful action boundary
Noma is a strong candidate for evaluation when an organization needs to connect its growing agent inventory with control over real actions. Start with an agent whose legitimate job is clear and whose tools expose both permitted and prohibited operations. That produces evidence about the platform’s distinctive proposition without requiring a speculative enterprise-wide rollout.
The first milestone should be a reproducible explanation of who attempted what, under which task and rule, and what happened before the action reached its destination. Expand into additional environments after that explanation holds for ordinary requests, deliberate misuse and service failures. Security coverage grows through demonstrated integration, not through the number of product modules named in a proposal.
